HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I’m sorry, I just cannot contain myself after reading a recent review of Cher Lloyd conquering America by Heat magazine.
According to Heat magazine, The X Factor star has been heavily criticised in America for the way she looks, with some sources claiming that she is “trashy” and “low-rent.”
Now I’d be a liar if I said that I wasn’t wowed by Cher’s first audition on X-Factor but it didn’t take me long to realise that it wasn’t her talent that I was blown away by. To be honest her singing voice is not spectacular and for her to be compared to her mentor Cheryl Cole that should be apparent. Onto her lyrical skills, LOL! I hope Jay-Z is now going to write her stuff. No more to say on that matter. I figured out that her originality and differentiation is what made me like her… in the beginning.
This 17 year old girl came onto the stage daring to do what no other contestant has done before. She captured the confidence, arrogance, attitude, etc of urban music and used it to her advantage. Also she was a performer. What further shocked the audience was that she was a little Caucasian gipsy girl from Worcestershire. She shocked the nation so well that they actually believed that this girls talent was amazing.
With each show that I watched weekly I got more and more pissed off at seeing Cher on the show. It seemed as though after the first audition she had nothing else to offer but make-up and stereotypical choreographed performances. Also, being constantly likened to Cheryl Cole, who everyone was upset with due to Gamu’s depart, didn’t help matters.
So why did Jay-Z sign her? Jay-Z must have an image of what he thinks UK female artists look like and portray musically. 1st Lady Sovereign -_- and now Cher. What will it take for the US to take our artists seriously? I’m praying that K Koke lets them know what we have here, with a rumoured collaboration with J.Cole hopefully they will see what we can do. I was happy to see Chipmunk on a track with Chris Brown but was disappointed as I don’t think that he delivered, there’s nothing on that track that I haven’t heard before on both Chris and Chipmunks behalf.
